Traditional lawns require frequent maintenance, lots of water, and fertilizer. In conjunction with, and as a result of tests conducted at Oregon State University, a line of ecology seed mixes have been developed that address these problems. We are pleased to carry the resultant seed mixes.

In many cases, when fertilizer is applied to normal turf lawns, the grasses do not absorb all of it, and the left over fertilizer is washed away into groundwater. Our ecology mixes contain legumes which naturally replenish nitrogen in the soil to feed the other plants in the mix, so no foreign fertilizer need be applied to keep it healthy.

Our ecology seed mixes have been developed as an alternative to traditional lawns and they exhibit self-fertilizing properties, dwarfed growth and drought tolerance.

For casual lawns, transitional areas, summer homes, and other places where low maintenance is key, Fleur de Lawn and Fragrant Herbal are a lovely alternative to a highly manicured lawn. Containing colorful and resilient flowers, Fleur de Lawn is a very beautiful mix and a favorite of the Northwest. Fragrant Herbal contains Roman Chamomile that gently releases a sweet smelling scent when walked on or mowed.

PDX and PDX Plus will add green cover, optional color and soil stabilization to sites destined for infrequent mowing or where no mowing is desired.
